Anne-Marie Fowler
Anne-Marie is a PhD Candidate in the Department for the Study of Religion in collaboration with the Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies. She is a 2022-23 Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society Graduate Fellow, a 2020-21 Graduate Research Fellow/2021-22 Graduate Affiliate at University of Toronto's Centre for Ethics, and a current Junior Fellow at Massey College. Anne-Marie’s doctoral work focuses upon how time functions within Hermann Cohen’s Logic and Ethics. More broadly, her work engages Jewish sources alongside questions raised in philosophies of mathematics and science in order to enable original lenses upon the design of artificial learning systems. How might temporal approaches to mechanisms of learning reframe the question of “ethical AI?” Anne-Marie’s prior professional background in finance, social entrepreneurship, philanthropy and public policy secures her continued interest in how AI will function within financial innovation and related issues of debt justice.
