Mari Jyväsjärvi is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion at Reed College. She received her doctorate from Harvard University in 2011. Her doctoral dissertation was entitled “Fragile Virtue: Interpreting Women’s Monastic Practice in Early Medieval India.” She is interested in the history of the body in Asian religions, which she explores through the facets of religious ethics, religion and medicine, and religion and ecology.
