Biography

Carolyn Beard is a PhD student in the Department for the Study of Religion in collaboration with the Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies. An alumna of Princeton University and Harvard Divinity School, she studies the reception of ancient Jewish and Christian textual traditions in modern Jewish thought, with particular interest in the problem of evil and the death of God. Her work on the early political life of “Holocaust martyr” St. Edith Stein has been published in English and German. Carolyn lives in Niagara Falls with her husband, Michael, and their three cats, Maui, Molly, and Potato.
