In this discussion, anthropologist Kevin Lewis O'Neill (Professor, Department for the Study of Religion and Dean of Arts & Vice-Provost of Trinity College, University of Toronto) and historian John T. McGreevy (Professor of History, University of Notre Dame) will draw on their respective bodies of work - focused largely on religion, law and politics with a particular focus on Catholicism - to explore the ways in which religious traditions can offer distinct models for civil discourse if also distinct challenges to it. Randy Boyagoda (English Department), the University of Toronto's Provostial Advisor on Civil Discourse, will moderate.
