Biography :

Navin Singh is an MA student at the DSR studying in the field of South Asian Religions. He completed his BA in Anthropology and Religious Studies at the University of Toronto in June 2024. His research focuses on the development of Hindu religious traditions in the Caribbean post-indenture, particularly the worship of Kali/Mariamman as a tradition distinct from mainstream Hindu practice. He is interested in exploring how marginalized gender and caste identities persevere within Trinidadian Kali Worship through the ritual syncretism of Dalit Goddesses, positioning Sakta (Goddess) traditions at the peripheries of Caribbean Hinduism.
