DSR student Anna Cwikla has won UTM's 2018-19 award for TA excellence!
The June Scott Teaching Excellence Award for Teaching Assistants is awarded each year to an outstanding TA at the University of Toronto Mississauga. TAs may be nominated by UTM individuals or groups.
In a recent interview with UTM's magazine The Medium, Anna highlights TA strategies like using humor, getting to know students by name, understanding their pressures, and keeping them engaged through vivid examples, including pop culture references.
The TA award comes with a prize of $2,000 to be used toward conference travel and/or professional development. Anna told The Medium she'd use the prize to attend the 2019 Society for Biblical Literature conference in San Diego, California.
