John Magee studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Toronto, and he has taught at Columbia University (1986-92) and at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies and University of Toronto (since 1992). He is a member of the Classics Department, the Collaborative Program in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, and the Centre for Medieval Studies, of which he is currently the Director, and he is a Senior Fellow of the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies. Magee has published extensively on Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius in particular and is currently working on a critical edition of his Περὶ Ἑρμηνείας commentaries and an English translation of Calcidius.
