Matthew Price, instructor of our Religion and Science course, was recently interviewed on Michigan Radio (part of the NPR network) about his work monitoring US governmental websites and their evironmental data. Price is a technical lead for the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative (EDGI). The group is archiving government climate change data. Recently, Price and EDGI have noticed a significant change in how environment change is discussed on US governmental websites. Price explained:
“The change that concerns me the most, I think, is a move away from the language of action on climate to a language of mitigating effects; away from the idea of responsibility and towards acceptance”
Price’s group was also profiled in The Star last month.
